Roqué’s First Friday Films: Like a Virgin (Interpretations Series) 08/04/22

Today is the first Friday of the month! Soon, virgo season will begin, and to acknowledge this wonderful time of the year, I decided to film my cover of the 80’s Madonna classic Like a Virgin for today’s release. My version is stripped down to the vocals to showcase the vulnerability and pure sweetness of this song. I went out into the woods (and “through the wilderness,” so to speak) to film and record this. You can hear the crickets and birds singing along in the background!

Roqué’s First Friday Films: Strawberry Wine (Interpretations Series) 04/01/22

Today is Friday, April 1, and it’s time for another new First Friday feature on my YouTube channel. This month’s newest selection is an intersection between my work as a performing musician and a filmmaker. Filmed and recorded live at Hazelwood Studios in Woodbury, TN, this past winter, I selected the song “Strawberry Wine” by Deana Carter as one of the songs I would cover. I have always loved the song since the first time I heard it, and I wish I had written it. I can completely sympathize with its story of first love and the bittersweet memories that come with it.

You can watch my full performance in the screen above, and if you know of a song you would like for me to cover, please let me know in the comments section below or on social media.

Roqué’s Friday Films (12/04): Roqué Uncovers Billie Jean

Hooray for Friday!! It’s time for a new film! This week, I dug deep into my archives and found footage I filmed a long time ago of an afternoon spent crafting together and filming my own version of Michael Jackson’s hit pop song “Billie Jean.” This was filmed in the corner of my bedroom with an old camera that had a strange aspect ratio.

I should warn you that this footage is very dorky. I have short hair and seem to be taking this undertaking quite seriously! I added some flashy 80’s-inspired graphics and fairly cheesy special effects to infuse some snazziness.

I’ll be covering more songs in the future.
