Roqué’s First Friday Films: Baker Baker (Interpretations Series) 06/03/22

Another first Friday is upon us! This month, I wanted to submit the second installment of my “Interpretations” series in which I perform my version of the classic Tori Amos ballad “Baker Baker.” Originally released in 1994 off of her album Under the Pink, I fell in love with this song the very first time I heard it. There is a palpable vulnerability that conveys the feeling of wanting to recapture something that was forsaken. This film I made incorporates imagery that conveys the emotions and sentiments of the lyrics.

Watch my interpretation of “Baker Baker” at the player above, and thank you SO MUCH for watching.

Roqué’s First Friday Films: Strawberry Wine (Interpretations Series) 04/01/22

Today is Friday, April 1, and it’s time for another new First Friday feature on my YouTube channel. This month’s newest selection is an intersection between my work as a performing musician and a filmmaker. Filmed and recorded live at Hazelwood Studios in Woodbury, TN, this past winter, I selected the song “Strawberry Wine” by Deana Carter as one of the songs I would cover. I have always loved the song since the first time I heard it, and I wish I had written it. I can completely sympathize with its story of first love and the bittersweet memories that come with it.

You can watch my full performance in the screen above, and if you know of a song you would like for me to cover, please let me know in the comments section below or on social media.

Thank you SO MUCH for watching. I have more to come soon.

Roqué’s Friday Films (12/11): Pianos Dancing

Friday has arrived, and today, I am delivering to you a little film that has been so delightful to make.

Seriously, it was so much fun.

“Pianos Dancing” is my first attempt at stop-motion animation. This was something I had always wanted to try out, but I had no idea how fun it would be. The film features pianos dancing while bathed in soft golden light.

I happen to have an adorable collection of miniature pianos (as one does), and this gave me the perfect opportunity to use them and show them off.

I hope you enjoy this week’s fanciful creation of dancing pianos!

A couple of days ago, I announced on Instagram that I would be leaving the platform on January 1st of 2021. This is a big deal for me, but it is something I feel compelled to do.
