I made a quick recap of the films I have released and featured on my YouTube channel. I released fewer films this year, but this meant that I had more time and space to create pieces that resonated more fully with what I wanted to say. The end result is a small collection of films that I am very proud of.

Thank you all for watching!
There is much more to come in 2022!
TODAY, AUGUST 28, IS MY BIRTHDAY!!! In what has now become a tradition, I am releasing one of my films today. Embracing the Ephemeral was a film I made as my Creative Thesis Project of the University Honors College of Middle Tennessee State University during my senior year. It features my family and fellow Filipino immigrants in my community.
I wanted to make a contemplative documentary exploring the nature of immigration as it effects a person’s culture and identity across time. This project took a year and a half to complete. I was able to secure a grant to buy a camera and audio equipment, and it took a lot of work to finish.
I am personally very proud of this project, and I am happy to finally share it with the world.
Please enjoy watching this film and share it with anyone who you think might appreciate it.
Thank you for watching!!
Roque’s Friday Films now starts its fall season after a much needed break in September. Today is the World Premiere of a film I have been working on since last Spring. It’s called MaxZine’s Garden and features the vibrant and joyful space where gardener MaxZine Weinstein diligently grows several flowering and edible plants.
Filming for this project began in April earlier this year in order to capture as many spring, summer, and fall plants as possible on camera. The music heard throughout the film was performed and recorded on my piano at home.
MaxZine’s garden thrives deep in the hills of middle Tennessee in a town called Liberty.
